The Domaine de la Barroche has become one of the top wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape since the early 2000s. Julien and Laetitia Barrot are responsible for this explosion of quality, which was crowned with a 100/100 point wine at Parker for the first time in the 2005 vintage. With just 15 hectares of vines, the family winery is very small for the region.
The Julien Barrot Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the estate's most important wine, the calling card when it comes to high-class Chateauneuf, or C9P, as a common abbreviation is. 60% Grenache Noir, 19% Mourvedre, 13% Syrah, 5% Cinsault and 3% other varieties are aged in 600 liter concrete tanks or better concrete tulips for a full 20 months until the wine has found its best balance.
Falstaff magazine and the Wine Spectator rate this brilliant achievement from the excellent 2020 vintage with 93/100 points.
