Château Bois Noir is a new star in the AOC Bordeaux. The name comes from the dark pine forest that surrounds the vineyard. This is 26 hectares in size and is located in northern Libournais. You get a strong feeling of the blue clay soil, which is also found in Pomerol, which is an ideal terroir for the Merlot, which can show its class here.

Added to this is the skill and passion of Cyrille Grégoire, who took over the family winery in 1995 and made this excellent cuvée with the lion on the label from his oldest Merlot vines. Since 2015, the Grégoire family has also owned the Grand Cru Classé Château Ripeau in Saint-Emilion, which, thanks to Cyrille, has also made a qualitative leap.

The Château Bois Noir 2020 is classified as a Bordeaux Superior, but can be much more than most of the wines in this AOC. The wine is extremely juicy and dense on the palate, the old vines and the ripe top year give this wine a wonderful opulence without being lush and heavy. Our tip!
