The Grand Cru Classé Château Bellevue in Saint-Emilion is a small winery in an excellent location and with a beautiful view, hence the name. The vineyard is in one piece, in the immediate vicinity of the famous Château l'Angelus. Its owner, Hubert de Boüard, joined Bellevue in 2007 and acquired 50% of the shares from the Pradel de Lavaux family. The years 2012 to 2022 were produced under the direction of Hubert's daughter Stephanie de Bouard-Rivoal, which took Bellevue into a previously unknown quality league.

Unfortunately, the partners separated again after the 2022 vintage, the Chateau Bellevue label is again fully owned by the Pradel de Lavaux family, and the three hectares of Boüards vines will in future supply wine to Château l'Angelus.

This short era at Bellevue produced some great wines, like the fantastic 2020 vintage. This dark berry and cherry Saint-Emilion is characterized by juicy fruit ripeness and outstanding fullness, but despite all the Merlot intensity, it also has an enchanting inner tension that never lets it appear broad. It should develop positively in the bottle for a long time. The Wine Cellar Insider is at 95/100 and thinks this is the best vintage ever from this Chateau, James Suckling gives it a 94-95/100 and Peter Moser of Falstaff magazine gives it a 94/100.
