Château Beaumont is a very fine Haut-Médoc, never overwhelming or tannic, it always has a lot of charm and is accessible early on. This style is not least due to its origin between St.-Julien and Margaux, the latter is also considered to be the origin of the most elegant wines in the Médoc. Beaumont to the company Grands Millésimes de France, which also owns the Grand Cru Classé Chateau Beychevelle. The delicacy of the Beaumont is also reflected in the magnificent chateau, which was built in 1854 in the Renaissance mansard style.
The large vineyard area of just over 100 hectares consists of a contiguous plot planted with 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. After fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques, about a third of which are new per vintage. The Cabernet Sauvignon gives the wine strength, spice and structure, the Merlot velvety fullness, the Petit Verdot dark fruit and bite. Château Beaumont is committed to sustainable viticulture in accordance with the guidelines of the Terra Vitis association.
The Chateau Beaumont vintage 2020 consists of the grape varieties 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot and 8% Petit Verdot. The harvest began on September 14th, 2020 with the Merlot, the last Cabernet grapes went into the cellar on September 29th. 2020 was a straightforward year for Bordeaux winemakers, yielding perfectly ripe berries in abundance. The Beaumont 2020 also shines with juicy fruit, ripe tannins and a wonderful clarity of aromas and structure. As always, it is an extremely inexpensive wine that you don't have to wait long to enjoy.
