The Charmes-Chambertin plot of just 0.4 hectares from Réné Bouvier is located in the best part of this Grand Cru. In addition, the vines are very old at around 60 years on average. This results in a grand cru with a lot of pressure, juicy extract and great length in the finale. The wine ages in barriques for 18 months, 30% of which are new for each vintage. Again, only minimal amounts of sulfur are used and no cultured yeasts are used for fermentation.
The excellent vintage 2019 with its mini yields of very concentrated wines puts the icing on the cake of these excellent basic requirements, a great Burgundy with decades of aging potential. Pinot Noir doesn't get any better.
