The best Chardonnay vineyards from the Schreckbichl / Colterenzio winery are the basis for this great wine from the Lafoa series. This wine has been around since the 2015 vintage, when the vines had finally reached the age required to produce a top Lafoa wine.
The relative coolness at 450 to 550 meters ensures the clarity and finesse in this wine. The Lafoa Chardonnay from Schreckbichl has so much substance that the barriques give it a noticeable wooden tone, which fits wonderfully into the aromatic picture of the wine, shows presence but does not dominate.
The 2021 Lafoa Chardonnay has a straw yellow color. The wine's scent is reminiscent of mangoes and honeydew melons, and the barrique aging is clear but never intrusive. On the palate, the Lafoa shines with precision and freshness with high density and a lot of extract. In the very long finish it always remains grippy and leaves you wanting more. A very skilfully prepared top wine from South Tyrol. A maturation period in the bottle of up to 10 years should not be a problem.
This delicious white wine is best served with white meat, poultry, pasta and risotto with mushrooms or more intense fish dishes, for example with white wine sauce or grilled.
