Since the 1930s, Domaine Faiveley has been the largest landowner in the Grand Cru Chambertin Clos de Bèze, which, together with the Chambertin, is considered the best Grand Cru in Gevrey-Chambertin. Faiveley describes this wine as the most complex of all their wines, with great aging potential. The Pinot Noir vines were planted here between 1949 and 1983.
2021 was a classic vintage with fine, elegant Burgundies that have a lot of depth. With the experience of the Faiveley oenologists, this has of course been spot on, the wine is deep, powerful, enormously long and, as described above, highly complex.
William Kelly of Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave the 2021 Clos de Bèze a 93-95/100, praising the aroma of sweet red berries, orange zest and Asian spice in this wine. On the palate it is full-bodied, lush and fleshy, complex and concentrated.
