Domaine Berthenet was founded in 1974 and has been marketing its wines since 2001, after having previously delivered the grapes to the cooperative. The estate is located in Montagny, in the south of Burgundy. The Chardonnay is the top dog here, it is available from Berthenet with and without a oak ageing. What they all have in common is a really fair price level, Burgundy doesn't have to be expensive.
Schnutentunker.de says: "For me, Francois Berthenet brought the term "affordable Burgundy" to life like hardly anyone before, because he doesn't have a few affordable basic qualities before prices reach lofty heights, here the whole collection is extremely cheap."
