The Perrin family acquired a 14 hectare terraced parcel in the AOC Cairanne in 2008. The white stones in the gravel, clay and sandstone soil gave this wine its name "Peyre Blanche".

This commune is located on the southern Rhône, pretty much in the middle of the growing area, north of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and next to Rasteau. A special feature of Cairanne is that all the vineyards here are organically farmed. The proportion of the Syrah grape variety is unusually high at 40% in the Perrin Cairanne, which promotes finesse and structure.

Some of the vines for this wine date back to the 1950s, so they are quite old, which gives the wine depth. The fermentation takes place in concrete and steel tanks, which is typical of the Rhône, then the wine is stored for some time in large traditional wooden barrels that do not give off any flavor. Perrin's Cairanne should be fruity and clear.

This wine is a enchanting beauty. Extremely precise and fresh, but also juicy and charming. The cooler year 2021 has led to this clear fruit here. Despite 14.5% alcohol, you don't feel any heaviness here. It's done really well, as you're used to from Perrin. The winery itself is reminiscent of the 2021 wine style of the 1980s and 90s, when the summers were not as extremely hot as they are today.
