The Cahors from Château du Caillau contains 100% Malbec, the region's flagship variety. 50% of the harvest is aged in used barriques and 50% in tanks, which gives the wine a touch of wood but leaves the fruit in the foreground. Owner Philippe Bernede vinifies a modern Cahors here that can be drunk relatively young, but also ages well in the bottle.
2022 is considered a fullbodied and ripe vintage. The Château du Caillau Cahors has a dark ruby red color. Its scent has notes of blueberries and cocoa, the tannins are present but supple, the finish is balanced and makes you want to take another sip.!
We recommend this powerful red wine at the table with red meat, stews and summer barbecues.
