Clos Venturi focuses mainly on the traditional grape varieties of Corsica, one of them is the red grape variety Sciaccarellu, which is bottled as a single variety in this wine due to its independent character. This vine actually originally comes from Italy, where it is now almost extinct. There they call it Mammolo because its scent is reminiscent of violets (=Italian Mammole).
The Brama Sciaccarellu from Clos Venturi has a red berry character, has fineness and a rather supple character, in addition to the violet note mentioned above, its aromas are also reminiscent of strawberries, cherries and pepper. As with all Clos Venturi wines, what stands out here is the wonderful clarity and freshness, which is promoted by the altitude in the mountains of central Corsica. The wine combines Mediterranean spice with the clarity and precision of a Cool Climate Terroir.
The Brama Sciaccarellu matures in large wooden barrels and barriques before bottling, although the proportion of new barrels is likely to be small; it does not have a clear wood imprint. The wine is extremely exciting and should develop very well in the bottle. The winery claims a lifespan of 8-10 years after harvest.
