For his Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Xavier Monnot buys grapes from contract wineries that are in line with his philosophy of quality. The grapes are destemmed to obtain a charming style of wine. After fermentation it goes into the barriques, of which about 15% are new.
The wine is crystal clear, elegant and surprisingly complex, in keeping with Xavier Monnot's house style. Incidentally, the domaine used to be known under the name of René Monnier (Xavier's grandfather) and enjoyed an excellent reputation.
Tasing note Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "Bursting with aromas of cherries, spices and violets, the 2018 Bourgogne Pinot Noir is medium to full-bodied, round and supple, with an open core of succulent fruit and melting tannins. 87/100."
