Schreckbichl or Italian Colterenzio, is considered one of the best wineries for South Tyrolean Blauburgunder, also known as Pinot Noir or Spätburgunder. Two thirds of the Pinot Noir St. Daniel Riserva are aged in large traditional wooden barrels and one third in barriques. This results in a gentle red wine with the best balance of tradition and modernity. After aging in the barrel, this wine is left to rest in the bottle for another year before it is sold, as this wine not only tolerates storage well, but also benefits from it.

St. Daniel grows on volcanic soil at an altitude of around 350 meters in the communities of Cornaiano, Eppan and Montan. Its aromas are reminiscent of ripe red berries and cherries, along with the delicate note of wood and the spiciness of the oak barrels. On the palate it shines with its supple nature, the tannins are ripe and more in the background, the extract and the fruit characterize the taste.

James Suckling said the excellent 2020 vintage of Pinot Noir St. Daniel was worth 92/100 points. Unfortunately, there are no further reviews available at the moment (as of Aug. 2023)
