L4DG4, or Laguardia (the place name may not be officially mentioned on a Rioja label, hence the code) is the most delicate and expressive of the Bideona< /strong> Rioja local wines. The delicate delicacy comes from the vineyards located at over 500 meters above sea level, facing the Ebro Valley.
After the harvest, the individual berries are checked manually at the sorting table for their quality and suitability for this wine. The wine is then aged in new and used wooden barrels and also in stainless steel tanks, which is why Bideona does without the common Rioja classification Crianza and Reserva, because the entire harvest would have to go into the wood. One would like to avoid that here, in order not to let the wood tone become too superficial, but to have the location character as the primary wine characteristic. Therefore there are % new and used 300 liter barrels for this wine, the second half is aged without contact with wood.
The Laguardia Vinas Viejas is also the earliest accessible Villages Rioja from Bideona. You simply have to love its captivating range of aromas of dark berries and violets, accompanied by a delicate note of vanilla. It has velvety tannins and a wonderful juiciness on the palate, which it maintains until the long finale.
Just over 4,000 bottles of this wine were filled. The Rioja Consortium classifies the 2019 vintage as "very good.
