New times have dawned at Château Beauregard in Pomerol. In 2014, the Moulin and Cathiard families took over the winery and invested heavily in placing the wines at the top of Pomerol's quality list. Rarely have we been able to taste such a leap in quality at a château as at Beauregard. The wines have arrived in a completely different dimension than was the case before the takeover.
This is also clearly shown at the Benjamin de Beauregard 2019. The wine is juicier, more complex and dense than the first wine used to be. 70% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Franc and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon are organically grown for this delicious Pomerol. The vines are around 35 years old on average and mostly grow on the sandy soils of the winery.
Georgina Hindle from Decanter magazine awards 91/100 points to the 2019 Benjamin de Beauregard and describes him in Jan. 2022 as follows: "A refined but expressive nose full of bramble fruits and floral reflections .Lovely chalky texture and concentration here - refined and elegant in the purity of succulent fruit and overall tannic feel with the focus on red and black fruits - strawberries, red cherries, blackcurrants and liquorice.A serious style which is well defined and presented.Nice winemaking on show and an earlier drinking Pomerol to enjoy sooner. Tasted three times."
