The Barolo Patres (=fathers) is the most traditional Barolo bottling from the Sartirano family. A tribute to the ancestors. Classically blended from grapes from eleven different Barolo communities, as has been the norm since the creation of Barolo. The aging continues just as traditionally, San Silvestro ages this Barolo for a whopping 38 months in large Slavonian oak barrels before it is bottled, where it also ages for a few more months before it is delivered to the waiting customers. Good things take time.
The outstanding Barolo vintage 2019 brought us enormously concentrated wines that have a lot of everything: extract, fruit, tannins and power, only the harvest volume was rather modest. On the nose, the Patres Barolo by Sansilvestro shows subtle and spicy notes reminiscent of rose petals, cherries, cocoa and red berries (raspberries). On the palate it is a typical Barolo with its power in the extract and the tannins, handy, present and then again with a lot of elegance.
