Three different Barolo wines are bottled under the Essence label at Vite Colte. This one comes exclusively from grapes grown in the municipality of Barolo and is therefore called "Barolo di Barolo". The Nebbiolo vines from which the wine are standing on calcareous clay marl and sandstone soils at an altitude of 280 to 380m. The wine is aged for up to two years in large wooden barrels, which are traditionally used in Piedmont.
The color is typical of the Nebbiolo vine, a not too dark garnet red. The scent of this essence Barolo contains aromas of violets, tar, tobacco, berries and prunes, plus a fine balsamic note. On the palate it is powerful and at the same time balanced at a high level, aromatically playful and complex. An excellent Barolo at a fair price.
The Decanter magazine awarded a full 97/100 points for the 2015 vintage, the Gambero Rosso two red glasses, which means the wine was in three glasses final. The magazine Falstaff (AT) and James Suckling were also very impressed and both awarded 93/100.
