Barbera is the most cultivated grape variety in Piedmont. This Barbera d'Asti is the traditional version of the Barberas from San Silvestro, with practically no residual sugar. A little extra spice is given by the short aging in French wooden barrels, which underlines the aromas of red berries, cherries, plums and herbs perfectly. On the palate it is lively and structured by the ripe tannins, the extract dresses everything harmoniously, resulting in a really drinkable fun wine that always makes you want another glass.

San Silvestro recommends enjoying this wine up to 5 years after the harvest, but it is certainly not a problem to add another two years. In Italy, these wines tend to be drunk younger than older, it's a matter of taste.

For food combinations, we can think of anything from the grill, pasta al ragu, wild fowl, even a pot roast doesn't hurt in the colder months.
