Pernand-Vergelesses is the neighboring municipality of Aloxe-Corton. Part of the famous Corton Grand Cru hill is located in Pernand, as well as some excellent 1er Cru locations. One of these is the 1er Cru les Fichots, of which Domaine Antonin Guyon owns 0.59 hectares. These are planted with approximately 40-year-old Pinot Noir vines.
After manual harvesting and fermentation, this red Burgundy is stored in barriques for up to eighteen months, around a quarter of which are new. 2020 was a ripe and voluminous Burgundy vintage that still brings a nice freshness. It is one of the very best of the last decades.
The 2020 Pernand-Vergelesses Les Fichots by Antonin Guyon has a bright red color. The aromas are reminiscent of blackcurrants, cherries and some vanilla. On the palate it is perfectly balanced with a rather opulent style for a Burgundy; the tannins are ripe and give the wine support and structure. You can enjoy it young, but ten or more years in the dark cellar certainly won't do any harm.
