"Harmony in a fresher style" could be the motto of the 2021 Saint-Péray at the Domaine Alain Voge.
2021 was a significantly cooler year, which doesn't mean cold, more like the better years in the 1980s and 1990s. The result is a Saint-Péray that has a little less alcohol than previous vintages and a little more acidity in the finish, which suits the more lush white wines of the Rhône.
The Harmonie is made from 100% Marsanne grapes, whose vines have an average age of around thirty years. The grapes are picked by hand and fermented in concrete tanks. The aging takes eight months, during which the wine remains on the lees to gain structure. An invigorating type of Northern Rhône white wine.
