The 50 anni Piemonte Rosso is produced from the oldest Barbera and Dolcetto vines available to San Silvestro. These old vines produce a wine with more depth and aromatic playfulness than their younger peers, thus warranting a separate bottling.
The powerful Barbera is wonderfully complemented by the fruity and rather low-tanning Dolcetto; you can find aromas of cherries, red and dark berries, coffee and liquorice in its scent. On the palate it has good substance and richness, along with a catchy style that many people enjoy. Despite its old vines, there is something pleasantly uncomplicated about this wine. An excellent accompaniment to pasta dishes, BBQ, risotto or poultry.
