This enchanting Vouvray takes its name from “Silex” because of the numerous flints in the ground. These are considered to form the character of the aromatic and structural character of this wine made from the Chenin Blanc grape variety. This wine is fermented spontaneously, i.e. without the fermentation being helped with cultured yeast, which promotes its independent character. The expansion then takes place half in steel tanks and half in barriques, with the proportion of new barrels being around 25%. After around a year in these containers, it is cuvéed and bottled.
The Vouvray Silex 2022 from Domaine d'Orfeuille is balanced at a high level. It has a lot of substance and a great bite on the palate, but remains mineral and subtle at all times. A powerful white wine that doesn't seem heavy at all and always makes you want the next sip. This dry Vouvray can also age very well. The winery predicts 20 years of storage. One of our absolute favorites, definitely try it.
