The trendy variety red Riesling results in a white wine that looks like a Rosé. Sounds strange, but that's how it is.
Red Riesling is a close relative of the common Riesling, but it differs in the color of the berry skin, which becomes slightly reddish when fully ripe, similar to what we know from Pinot Gris. This old variety is becoming increasingly popular again, it is considered to be somewhat stronger and has more extract than its white counterpart.
When it comes into contact with the mash, Christoph Koenen's red Riesling takes on a pale pink color. With only 10% alcohol, but slightly higher residual sugar, the taste is medium dry. This wine combines fruit and minerality in the best way.
