The red wines from Volnay are considered the most delicate and sensual of the Côte de Beaune. However, the 2019 vintage of Volnay Les Mitans from Les Parcellaire de Saulx is very typical of the vintage with its high extract and powerful tannins, making it more like a powerful wine from the neighboring municipality of Pommard appears.
The Mitans vineyard, classified Premier Cru, which means "middle" in Old French, is located in the north of Volnay, near the border with Pommard, where the heartiest Volnays grow.
Decanter magazine awards 93/100 to the Mitans vintage 2018. Unfortunately, 2019 was not tasted yet.
