The Clos de la Cave des Ducs is a tiny 1er Cru, the highest in Volnay. It's owned by Jean-Charles Carré, a close associate of Benjamin Leroux, who markets the entire harvest of this brilliant Pinot Noir, hence the suffix "Monopole" on the label. The location, with its 50-year-old vines on average, has a unique character, it is surrounded on three sides by houses in the village of Volnay. Very structured and elegant wines are produced here, which are among the very best in the community, not only thanks to Benjamin's master oenological hand. As a rule, 15-20% new wood is used here, cultivation is based on biodynamic principles, fermentation is only carried out with natural yeasts.
2020 is one of the best vintages of recent times, the style is rich in extracts, classically elegant and very long-lasting. Attention: small quantity!
