Michel Gassier uses the traditional vines of the Rhône Valley for the Nostre Pais blanc: Grenache Blanc, which accounts for 50%, as well as Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette and some Bourboulenc. The wine is aged 50% in wooden barrels, just enough to give it aroma and structure without robbing it of freshness. In general, the wine is surprisingly fine for its southern origin, which gave it a whopping 91/100 points from Jep Dunnuck and James Suckling (for the 2020 vintage). Parker was even at 92/100 for the two predecessors 2017 and 18, the 2020 has not yet been rated here (as of June 2022).
The Nostre Pais Blanc smells of ripe citrus fruits and has a delicate floral note thanks to the Viognier. On the palate it is powerful, creamy and still lively, the finale is long-lasting and has a beautiful softness, the wooden barrel aging gives noblesse.
Serve this intense white wine best with white meat, grilled fish, seafood or intense cheeses such as Vacherin or goat's cheese.
