The white Mercurey "Clos Rochette" is a 5.45 hectare monopoly site in the Domaine Faiveley. It faces southeast, like the best sites in Burgundy. It gets its name from the many small stones (Roche = rocks) in the clay-limestone soil, which make processing laborious. The oldest remaining Chardonnay vines in this location were planted in 1960, and new plants were also planted in 1987, 1999, 2009 and 2017. Clos Rochette has been part of Faiveley since 1933. The wine spends 16 months in barriques, 25% of which are new, which results in a noticeable but perfectly balanced wooden tone in the wine.

This wine from the warm 2022 vintage shows ripe fruit and yet also fresh nuances, aromatically it is reminiscent of spices, vanilla with a delicate roasted note. The lively impression on the palate is perfectly complemented by the oak notes, the long finish makes a pleasantly creamy impression, but never forgets the freshness. A beautifully elegant Côte Chalonnaise Burgundy that tastes delicious when young, but can also continue to mature in the bottle for a few years.
