Château Calon Ségur, this is the famous Cru Classé from Saint Estephe in the Médoc, whose labels are decorated with a heart. The quality of the wine has been beyond any doubt since the mid-1990s, and this also applies to the recently renamed second wine, which is now called Marquis de Calon Ségur. It is actually a wine in its own right because it comes from different plots than the Grand Vin. Stylistically, the Marquis is also softer and ripe for consumption earlier than its big brother due to the higher proportion of Merlot grape variety. Nevertheless, the wine naturally has a lot of substance and can be stored for at least 20 years. The winery gave Le Marquis de Calon Ségur seventeen months in barriques, of which around 30% were new. You need a lot of power and depth in the wine.
The standard at Calon Segur is so high these days that even the second wine is one of the very best wines in Saint-Estèphe.
The heart on the label makes it the ideal gift for people who are close to your heart and at the same time have an affinity for first-class wine.
