The Pinot Noir Holle attracted international attention when James Suckling rated the 2018 vintage with 99/100 points. The evaluation for 2019 is still pending. Hölle is the premium Pinot in the hierarchy of the Thörle family, presumably because the vines from the planting year 1971 are older than those in Probstey. Hölle is a particularly good vineyard facing south, where the heat remains for a long time. 50% of the barriques for this wine were new, the others used. Aromas of wild berries and cherries as well as a noble oak note can be found in the bouquet. On the palate it is profound, very substantial and has a brilliantly long finish, which makes it one of the greatest among Germany's red wines. Stylistically, it is based very much on Burgundian Pinots with its cool and elegant style. World class!
