The Pichounettes is made from young vines from the Domaine des 4 Vents, the vines come from two vineyards in Mercurol, in the south of the AOC Crozes-Hermitage. Only very small amounts of sulfur are used prior to bottling (an average of 20mg / L, 150mg would be allowed), which requires extremely clean work so that the wine is stable. The red Pichounettes has a very dark color, as is common here in the winery. The bouquet is crystal clear and reminiscent of ripe blackberries and violets, pepper and a hint of smoked bacon. On the palate, the wine is round and juicy, here you notice the perfectly matured grapes, the tannins are beautiful and give the wine tension, in the long finale the blackberries and the smoky notes show up again. A great wine that shows all the skills of the Fournel siblings.
