White Corton Grand Cru is extremely rare and hardly known. It grows mainly in the Vergennes and Languettes vineyards and, like its famous neighbor Corton-Charlemagne, consists of 100% Chardonnay. Chanson is one of the two main owners in the Corton Vergennes vineyard, named after the Count of Vergennes, foreign minister under King Louis XVI and former owner of this vineyard.
This great wine is fermented in small oak barrels and stored for 12 months. It has a distinctive character and is said to have a slightly salty-mineral note. Despite the warm year, the 2020 vintage was wonderfully elegant, with a classic burgundy structure and plenty of extract. Durable and fine. Aromatically, it is reminiscent of exotic fruits such as mango and yellow fruits such as peaches, accompanied by mineral notes. Complex and almost broad-shouldered on the palate, yet also with freshness and the best balance.
