Plan Vermeersch also produces very small quantities of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with only around 600 bottles of annual production, this rare top wine from the estate is always sold out very quickly. The grape combination of this cuvee is unusual, it consists only of Grenache Noir and Syrah, while many of the other traditional vines of this origin are not used The grapes are harvested in very ripe conditions and aged in oak barrels, which leaves a noticeable roasted scent.
Due to the rare production, there are hardly any current awards from well-known journalists. To give an impression of the quality range in which the wine is, here are the ratings from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate of older vintages: 2009: 94/100, 2010: 96/100.
Stylistically, the wine is opulent, with a lot of fruit and power in the tannins. A wine for winter evenings and / or stews. It impresses with its intense nature.
