The family-run Domaine d'Orfeuilles produces beautiful Vouvray wines. In contrast to its brother Silex, the Vouvray sec does not mature in wooden barrels. Nevertheless, it is a full-bodied white wine with a strong character, as one would expect from a very good Chenin Blanc de Loir. The sec is a fruity version of Chenin Blanc. This d'Orfeuille wine is also traditionally fermented without the addition of artificial yeasts. It gets its remarkable structure from long aging on its own lees. The 2020 Vouvray sec offers the characteristic aromas of a well-made Loire Chenin Blanc, the bouquet is reminiscent of pears, fresh ginger, quince and cardamom. The taste is juicy and extra rich, but well balanced in every phase, all with sovereign length in the finale. A storage time in a dark and cool cellar of 15 years from the harvest should not be a problem.
