2021 is now the eighth bottled vintage of the young Domaine Jolivet. The Saint-Joseph l'Instinct of this vintage is stylistically fresher than its predecessors due to the rather cool year and pleases with its clarity and precision. The Jolivet wines are always characterized by ripe grapes; there are no green aromas or unripe acidity here. One gets the impression that every berry was tested for its suitability for this wine before being pressed. That's really impressive, don't miss it. For the Revue du Vins de France, Bastian Jolivet was the discovery of the year 2020.
Bastien Jolivet says that he has now understood each of his ten plots and that is why he succeeds in producing such enchanting wines. The Saint-Joseph l'Instinct 2021 impresses, and it will do so for many years if you don't drink it first. This wine is characterized by its ripe black berry fruit, and the scent also contains delicate roasted notes and black pepper. It is very straightforward and precise, but on the other hand it is also soft in the tannins and has a wonderful length in the finish. Jolivet is already at the top of his class in Saint-Joseph.
Unfortunately there are only a few bottles of this vintage.
