The Domaine Belleville is a fixture in the top league of Côte Chalonnaise winemakers in the south of Bourgogne. This is not surprising, as Louis-Michel Liger-Belair, one of Burgundy's top winemakers, is involved here as a consultant. The wines are all first-class, have substance, density, just the right amount of oak and a great clarity in the aromas.
The full and intense Rully La Perche comes from the company's own vineyard. The name "La Perche" probably comes from an area that corresponded to a hundredth of an acre. 35% of the wine is aged in barriques for 12 months, the rest comes from steel tanks. This gives it a wonderful wood note that is in perfect balance with the extract of the wine and the fruit. The Chardonnay vines are around 30 years old and grow on clay/limestone soils, which offer ideal conditions for this noble grape variety.
2022 was a warm year, but it produced wines that are characterized by a lot of finesse and very clear fruit. They seem juicier than the "cool" 2021s and are more supple in their nature. In terms of quality, 2022 is one of the great vintages of our time.
The enchanting bouquet of the Rully la Perche 2022 is reminiscent of citrus fruits and also white flowers, plus the perfectly balanced barrique note and a hint of peach. On the palate, despite all its fullness, it seems fresh and clear, always well balanced and with an impressive length in the finish. A class wine, so much elegance is rarely found in this AOC. You can enjoy drinking la Perche young, but of course a few years in a dark cellar won't do any harm. It is and remains a matter of taste.
