The Riserva "14" is the most powerful and full-bodied Primitivo variant of the Contessa Marina series. Highly concentrated, almost lush and very long-lasting in the smooth finale. This voluminous Primitivo, aged in barriques, comes from the best growing area for this vine, from Manduria in Puglia, halfway between Taranto and Lecce. Due to its particularly high wine quality, this area is the only one to have the legal DOP status, which elevates it above other Primitivo origins. The sun and warmth of Apulia ensure a high degree of ripeness, which makes the wine very full-bodied and juicy.
The color of the Riserva 14 Primitivo is ruby red with a dark core. The expansive scent of this wine is reminiscent of dark berries such as blackberries and blueberries, as well as cocoa, vanilla, Mediterranean herbs and ripe plums. Due to the barrel ageing and its natural substance, this Primitivo concentrate can also be stored in a dark and cool cellar for a few years. It is allowed to be drunk young, but does not necessarily have to be. This intense power pack is a taste experience and is certainly one of the best red wines in Apulia in this price range. It's the Sunday wine for Primitivo lovers, so to speak.
As an accompaniment to food, it is ideal for intensive dishes, such as everything from the grill, also with appropriate BBQ sauces, meat fondue, stews or Italian antipasti. We like it cool, directly from the cellar (14-16 degrees), but that's a matter of taste.
