Mercurey is one of the most important AOCs in the Domaine Faiveley's portfolio. Even with this Village quality, you have a lot of Pinot Noir in your glass, the ripe fruit of the vintage gains complexity from the old vines that were planted in 1962, 1978 and 1981. They come from 20 different plots in Mercurey with mainly calcareous soils.
The Mercurey Vieilles Vignes was of course harvested by hand. After fermentation, this Mercurey was stored for twelve months in barriques, of which around 10% were new and only moderately toasted. The result is a fairly classically structured red Burgundy that can be enjoyed in its early youth thanks to its round tannins, but can of course also rest in the cellar for a few years. It is equally suitable for Burgundy newbies and connoisseurs.
