The monopoly vineyard La Framboisière in Mercurey has been the sole property of Domaine Faiveley since 1933. A classic in the range. The 10.6 hectare vineyard area is planted with Pinot Noir vines from the planting years 1949, 1964, 1965, 1968, 1990 and 2010. Some very old vines that give the wine depth and complexity. Typical of La Framboisere is its delicate, red-berry-like fruit, which may explain the name (Framboise = raspberry) with a fine, mineral clarity and good tannin structure. This Burgundy is already very delicate in its youth, but can also mature very well in the bottle for several years.

The laborious harvesting by hand is of course standard at the Domaine Faiveley. Some of the grapes are not separated from the stems before pressing in order to obtain a slight increase in tannins, which gives the wine an additional bite. The mash is pumped over twice a day to extract color, tannins and extract from the grape skins. The Framboisiere gets around 20% new barriques, which gives the wine a fine spice and noblesse without the wood dominating it.

The slightly cooler vintage 2021 resulted in a crystal clear and subtle Mercurey la Framboisiere. The wine has a classic structure with a lot of finesse, the style is reminiscent of the better vintages of the 1980s and 1990s.
