What the Domaine Belleville in the south of Burgundy conjures up in the bottle is really fascinating. The Clos l'Eveque is one of the best vineyards in the area, with great aging potential, which is very rare to find on the Côte Chalonnais. Incidentally, the bishops of Chalon owned this exquisite vineyard in the 16th century. At that time it was clearly defined who was entitled to the best wine. Luckily today you can easily buy it without being a high cleric. The high age of the vines of around fifty years gives the outstanding draft in this location. The Mercurey Clos l'Eveque matures for sixteen months in barriques, about a third of which are new. Our tip!

2020 was a vintage tailored for this elegant Premier Cru. This strengthens the natural finesse of this wine with the elegance customary for the vintage, the wine has a remarkable complexity and a very good bite, is equipped with a great length on the palate and is always in the best balance. A great southern Burgundy, it couldn't be better.
