Karl D. Wente says about this Sauvignon Blanc: “Our Louis Mel Sauvignon Blanc is harvested when the sugars and acidity in the grapes are perfectly balanced and optimal for our finished wine. The grapes are picked cold before sunrise and brought to the winery where they are gently pressed, cold settled, and then cold fermented. All of these steps ensure that we are extracting and maintaining only the best of
flavors from our estate grown Sauvignon Blanc grapes.”

This wine takes its name from French immigrant Louis Mel, who brought Sauvignon Blanc seedlings from Chateau d'Yquem to plant in the Livermore Valley. With this wine, Wente is striving for a fresh and exotic-fruity Sauvignon Blanc style, which shines with aromas such as lemon zest and grapefruit and is a versatile accompaniment to summery cuisine.

The 2021 vintage consists of 90% Sauvignon, 8% Semillon and some Gewurztraminer. Aromas such as honeydew melon, citrus fruits and freshly mown grass can be found in its scent and in the fresh and grippy finish. A beautiful Sauvignon Blanc grown at Sunset Intl. Wine Competition 93/100 points and a gold medal.
