The label "Kris" belongs to masterwainer Franz Haas and is for wines that do not grow in South Tyrol. The idea is to offer a well-established entry-level segment that would not be available at this price in South Tyrol due to high ground prices and production costs.
The grapes for the Kris Pinot Noir come from the Provincia di Pavia in the Lombardy, a stronghold of this grape in Italy. The vines are planted in relatively high altitudes, which gives Pinot Nero its typical finesse, because heat acknowledges this grape with jammy wines, the typical Pinot finesse can only grow cool climate. The Kris Pinot Noir has a very fruity and elegant style with lots of cherry and plums and a mild round taste. A touch of clove in the finish. A really charming pinot for little money.
