2022 was mostly a positive year for winemakers in Europe, including in the southern Rhône. The wines have a lot of substance and a juicy nature, which makes the wines accessible early. Nevertheless, the white wines do not lack freshness.
One of the rare white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from the organic winemaker Chateau Maucoil. The skin variety Grenache Blanc is complemented here by Bourboulenc and Clairette, the mini-yield of just 25hl/ha results in a rich white wine with depth; malolactic fermentation is omitted in order to give the wine more freshness. The wine is matured in large vats. This creates a great white wine with a lot of content that also has no trouble with heavily spiced and intense dishes. You can also forget it in the cellar for a few years, but you don't have to, it also tastes very fine when young.
