Charles Wetmore was one of the wine pioneers of California who brought vine seedlings of the great Bordeaux Châteaux to the Livermore Valley in the 1880s. The family winery Wente reminds with this excellent Cabernet Sauvignon to Charles Wetmores far-sightedness, on which today the first-class reputation of California Cabernets is basing.
The Wetmore Cabernet also contains small portions of the grape varieties Malbec, Petite Sirah and Petit Verdot, which give the wine more tension and aromatic variety. The maturing took place for 18 months in 40% new French and 60% used barrels.
The result is a full-bodied Cabernet with aromas of vanilla, coffee, spices, black cherries and ripe plums. The body softens the tannins so perfectly that a gentle and soft palate impression with very long length is created. A top wine, the vintage 2013 received the award "Great Gold" in the wine award Mundus Vini 2016 and was rated as the best red wine of the USA .
