The Salzl Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve grows on sandy soil, in an Illmitz vineyard that is appropriately named Sandriegel. As a rule, the wine spends 12 months in 100% new barriques to develop its full splendor, a real luxury in this (price) class!
The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from Salzl is a little more opulent than its predecessor, stylistically more reminiscent of the full 2015, with its juicy fullness, the very good extract and its soft finish.
Peter Moser from Falstaff magazine rates the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve from Salzl with 91/100 points and writes, quote: "Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflections, delicate edge lightening. Fine cassis notes, a touch of cardamom, black plums , floral touch, inviting bouquet. Juicy, firm, some leafy tannin, herbal notes, fresh fruit, will benefit from bottle maturity."
