A mano, by hand, this Rioja is called by Bodegas Lan. A relatively new creation of 80% Tempranillo, 8% Mazuelo and 12% Graciano from 35-40 year old vines from the plot El Rincón, in the single vineyard Viña Lanciano. Not only the harvest is made by hand, the berries for this wine are carefully selected by hand at the sorting table. Very unusual on the other hand, the wine is first grown in new French barriques for 7 months, then 6 months in small oak barrels from new Russian oak.
The 2011er came in the Top 100 wine list of the year in the Wine Spectator, the 2019 should not be inferior in quality. A very complex and precise noble Rioja, full of excitement and aromatic depth, one of the best wines of this Spanish nobel region.
