Château Maucoil is located in the northern part of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and has all three soil types of this prestigious AOC, which has many components in the wine. The red Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition is a cuvée dominated by the Grenache grape variety, plus smaller proportions of the common Rhône varieties Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. The vines have a fairly high average age of around 40 years, giving the wine strength and depth. Fermentation takes place in traditional cement tanks, then the wine ages in used wooden barrels of various sizes. Since the 2011 vintage, the wines of Château Maucoil have been certified organic. The 2020 vintage is considered particularly good, it combines charming fruitiness with good structure, it is spicy, supple and voluminous, as befits a Chateauneuf-du-Pape. You can drink it very well young, but it also develops splendidly at least 10 years after the harvest, the best vintages, like this one, even longer. Organic wine.
