The Rioja Crianza from Bodegas Lan is a price hit! Here you get a typical Rioja of the softer style, we would call it "semi-modern", the aromas are typical Rioja, but without the exaggerated oxidation and the edgy acidity of classic variants, which hardly exist any more. The 14-month barrique aging gives the wine its finishing touch and aromatic noblesse. It has an intense cherry red colour. The aromas are reminiscent of strawberries and raspberries, vanilla and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate it is well balanced, long-lasting and with good fullness in the final. You just have to love him.
The grapes for the LAN Crianza come from the sub-regions of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. The lion's share goes to the Tempranillo, plus some Mazuelo and Garnacha. 2019 was a very warm vintage with little rainfall, which reduced the yields. The quality is rated "excellent" by the Rioja Consortium.
