The Rioja Crianza from Bodegas Lan is a price hit! Here you get a typical Rioja of the softer style, we would call it "semi-modern", the aromas are typical Rioja, but without the exaggerated oxidation and the edgy acidity of classic variants, which are hardly available anymore anyway. The 14-month barrel aging gives the wine its final touch and aromatic nobility. It has an intense cherry red color. The aromas are reminiscent of strawberries and raspberries, vanilla and a hint of cinnamon. On the palate it is perfectly balanced, long-lasting and with a good fullness in the finish. You just have to love it.
The grapes for the LAN Crianza come from the sub-regions of Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa. The lion's share is Tempranillo, with some Mazuelo and Garnacha added. 2019 was a very warm year with little rainfall, which reduced the yield. The quality is classified as "Excellent" by the Rioja Consortium.
