The red Châteauneuf-du-Pape tradition by Château Maucoil consists of the traditional grape varieties of the southern Rhône such as Grenache Noir, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cinsault. The vines have an average age of 40 years and grow in the northwest of the AOC. It is fermented in traditional concrete tanks before the wine is matured in used wooden barrels of various sizes. Since 2011, the wines are certified organic. The wine is spicy, supple and full, it usually develops magnificently over 10 years after harvest, the best vintages like 2016, even longer.
