The single vineyard Vina Lanciano is planted with 85% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo. The winery itself, Lanciano describes as the soul of the winery. The grapes from the more than 30-year-old vines are harvested by hand and subjected to an extensive selection on sorting tables. Only excellent grapes are good enough for theRioja Reserva Lanciano. The same applies to the barriques made of Tronçais oak, in which the wine matures for 12 months and then spends another 6 months in Russian oak. After a further 18 months of aging in the bottle, it comes onto the market.
The Lanciano is characterized by ripe red and dark berries and a light note of liquorice, it is mineral and elegant, a remarkable Rioja, which is one of the best wines in the region.
The 2016 vintage turned out exceptionally well in Rioja, which you can clearly taste here. Depth, elegance and a very long finish, plus the balance at a very high level. Wow!
