In the Jura region, sweet wines are also produced, the grapes of which are dried on straw in order to obtain a high concentration in the must. This is how this Vin de Paille (straw wine) from Domaine Berthet-Bondet is made from the grape varieties Savagnin, Chardonnay and Poulsard.
It is matured in barriques. With its approx. 110 g of residual sugar, low acidity and high alcohol content, it corresponds more to the taste of a Vin Santo from Italy or some Austrian sweet wine than a German noble sweet wine. A specialty full of character that can be enjoyed as an aperitif, dessert wine or just like that.
